Our first event of the year will be a Hare Scramble on the 30th March utilising most of our track and new sections of our adjoining Crown forestry land.
We have tirelessly been working with all groups to be able to continue to use this area to enhance your off road riding experience.
The MX track will be closed from 1 pm on Friday the 29th for practice for all hare scramble riders. Usual rates for day riding will apply $20, unless you are a member.
The Saturday event will have all facilities and will be a spectator paying event at a discount $5 per vehicle entry. If you are a CRMXA member you will not need to pay.
Our power washers will be available, our potable water will be running and the track will be prepped.
We are rapidly approaching the start of the 2013 Vancouver Island Motocross championship. We will be holding the first round at CR on April 13/14.
Saturday13th will be practice day and the Sunday 14th will be the first round. Times and details will be announced nearer the date.
What is of note this year is that there is one single championship for the whole year, no Spring or Fall.
It will be truly the Island championship.
We are all working on making it a valuable championship to win, not just financially but the credibility it will hold in the rest of Canada.
VIMX is your Island cohesive group with reps from all the clubs involved to construct and organise your championship. All the clubs tracks are revamping their trtacks and facilities to increase your enjoyment and racing experience. We are also between us holding for the third time the island round of the CMRC national championship again at the Wastelands on the 2nd June. This will be the 3rd and last event in our current contract with CMRC, weather permitting it will be the most successful.
Also of note this year is that you can have two throw away rounds. What that means is you can throw away one bad score (crash/DNF/blow up and also miss one round (sick/working/vehicle break down on route) etc. It doesn't mean that you couldn't be bothered to race when you got there or use the same reason twice, common sense must prevail.
We have made a couple of changes to our track and will be making more before the start of the season, so the local riders will not have it all their own way.
We have installed an extensive network of drainage piping and culverts to reduce the chance of being flooded as at our last race in October, that was a weather phenomenen and was not created by the referee on the day !!!
The dates for us at CRMXA are: June 22/23, Sept 14/15th then October 12/13th, the final rounds of the series with the definitive format to be announced for that weekend, but we will also be holding a Banquet, either at the track in a Marquet or in a downtown venue in CR.
